Literature Text

40 BBY, Month Two, Day Twenty-Eight: Infuriated at the recent spike (and long-term growth) of piracy across the Expansion Region, Mid Rim, and Outer Rim Territories, several hundred worlds sign the Treaty of Concordance with the Axis of Spaarti, an isolationist faction that successfully seceded from the Galactic Republic just over two decades prior with cloned soldiers. With massive cloning repositories and several leading shipbuilders and armament manufacturers at their disposal, the Concordance hopes to sweep across the galaxy with its forces to overthrow and replace the corrupt Republic.

40 BBY, Month Three, Day Thirteen: Outbreak of the Clone Wars. Forces of the Concordance launch a large scale, multi-pronged assault across Republic member systems along the Outer Rim Territories. The Outer Rim Fleet of the Republic Navy, outgunned and undermanned, is caught off-guard, losing many vessels and personnel in the ensuing battles. A counteroffensive urgently recommended by Republic Military Command is stalled in the Senate due to political deadlock. Senator Palpatine suggests an emergency amendment to the Constitution to transfer control of the armed forces from the Senate to the Office of the President. Despite deep reservations by both tenured and junior senators, the amendment passes.

40 BBY Month Three, Day Twenty: After a week mired in political criticism related to the fall of dozens of Outer Rim systems to the Concordance and the deteriorated state of the Republic’s military, President Haille Vallen formally resigns from office. A number of replacement candidates are suggested; among them is Senator Palpatine.

40 BBY, Month Three, Day Twenty-One: Due to broad support for his proposed reforms and decisive military action in the Clone Wars, Palpatine is elected as President of the Galactic Republic by a substantial majority. In his first move of office, President Palpatine announces the Emergency Military Reorganization and Modernization Act, starting with conscription of Republic citizens as needed. Warship and starfighter construction is prioritized, along with the breakdown/reformation of Republic forces into regional and sectorial fleets/armies. He proposes the creation of regional/sectorial positions to serve as intermediaries between the government and the military termed “Moffs,” but this draws significant opposition in the Senate, and the proposal is shelved.

40 BBY, Month Ten, Day Seven: Over six months of conflict between Republic and Concordance forces result in a bloody stalemate. But recent, beneficial alliances between the Concordance and militarized factions such as the infamous Mandalorian Warriors have resulted in substantial losses for the Republic. It grows increasingly clear to Republic Command and the Senate that they will be soon be unable to turn the tide without aid. The Senate decides to request assistance from the Jedi Order, with Bail Organa as their representative.

40 BBY, Month Ten, Day Eight: The Jedi Council, by a vote of eleven to one, agrees to provide assistance to the Republic military (largely a formality, as the Jedi Order is committed to the defense of the Republic when called upon). Master Yoda abdicates the position of Grand Master in response, and decides to temporary withdraw from Order matters for contemplation.

40 BBY, Month Ten, Day Fifteen: Volunteer units under the banner of Freedom’s Sons and the Antarian Rangers are activated to assist the Jedi Knights in the battles to come. Droves of laden paramilitary craft leave for Republic firebases to establish prefabricated quarters and operations posts, supply and communications lines, and ammunition caches.

40 BBY, Month Eleven, Day One: Recalling the heroic actions of those responsible for the rescue of his adopted daughter Padme (along with the resolution of the Hostage Crisis), Senator Bail Organa meets with Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and apprentice Anakin Skywalker, requesting their entry into the Republic military as officers and liaisons with the Jedi Order, serving within the Republic Alderaanian Expeditionary Forces. Both of them accept, and leave for Officer Familiarization School at the Republic Military Academy on Anaxes shortly after.

38 BBY, Month Seven, Day Twenty-Two: The planet Atraken is devastated as advanced Concordance anti-foliage agents and bioweapons are dropped onto the world’s surface upon the planetary government’s refusal to surrender. The few survivors manage to evacuate to an established mining colony on Atraken’s moon.

33 BBY, Month One: The first Victory-class Star Destroyer is commissioned into the Republic Navy, the one of Wallex Blissex’s designs implemented in a crash construction program to modernize it. Hundreds more remain under construction at various Rendili StarDrive shipyards across the galaxy.

33 BBY, Month Eight: Battle of Concord Dawn: Routing the Concordance forces in the Mandalore Sector, the Republic Navy 4th Outer Rim Battle Group begins their offensive on the Concordance stronghold of Concord Dawn. Leading the Republic Army Expeditionary Force in the battle is General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master and Army liaison. In addition is Commander Anakin Skywalker, recently promoted Jedi Knight and commanding officer of Republic Navy Starfighter Corps’ Renegade Squadron.

33 BBY, Month Nine: After a month long siege and invasion of Concord Dawn, the final offensive deals a crippling blow to the Concordance forces, forcing a retreat from the planet, and the effective loss of the Mandalore Sector, along with several adjacent sectors. In spite of the catastrophic death toll on both sides of the battle, the Battle of Concord Dawn will be considered the turning point of the Clone Wars, in the favor of the Republic. Of the thousands of Mandalorian Warriors that fought in the battle, only one survives: Boba from Clan Fett.

So I'm guessing that Episode 1 would be "40 BBY, Month Eleven, Day One: Recalling the heroic actions of those responsible for the rescue of his adopted daughter Padme (along with the resolution of the Hostage Crisis)."

Are the Sith and/or Dark Jedi involved at all in this timeline?
